Gearbox Manufacturing Process
PowerTrain Technologies, LLC a division of Carnes-Miller Gear has the in-house capability to manufacture (hob, shape and grind) spur and helical gears up to 400 mm in diameter, AGMA class 14. We also manufacture bevel gears (Coniflex), worm and worm gears, internal gears and splines. We can do as little as cut the teeth on a customer supplied blank, grind the teeth on a customer supplied gear or design, manufacture, assemble and test complete transmissions.
We have over 30 years experience in design, manufacture and assembly of power train components. Techniques such as Lean Manufacturing are utilized to provide a cost-competitive product on time.
PowerTrain Technologies, LLC can work from a customer supplied drawing or our CAM capability will allow us to work from a customer supplied solid model.
We use an integrated ERP solution to administer and manage the manufacturing process. Sales, estimating, scheduling, purchasing, job tracking, costing, shipping and accounting is all managed from a centralized data base.
Our quality system is integrated within our ERP system. PowerTrain Technologies, LLC maintains a system for calibration and inspection of its testing and measuring equipment. We have the necessary equipment to inspect work in progress and employees' trained on that equipment.
Equipment includes a CNC gear analyzer, a co-ordinate measuring
machine and on board inspection equipment.
We are currently working toward our ISO 9001:2000 and Six Sigma methodology. Certification is scheduled in late summer 2007.
Our manufacturing core competency is small to medium production runs of precision gears, components and assemblies. We have a network of global suppliers and services to rely on in situations requiring services outside our capacity or capability.
